It Was Very Good – Genesis 1:31 Scripture Memory Song

Can you imagine a world that was “very good”?

If you’re new here, each week we all learn about and memorize a Bible verse together. We’ve put the verse(s) into song to help you learn the verse and recall it during your day. If you’d like to see the archives of all the verses we’ve done so far, you can find our posts here and a list of all the YouTube videos here. We’ll also be giving a family update on what has happened in the past week.

Family Update

Another week full of boogers and coughing and fevers thanks to another round of sickness in our home. Thankfully we didn’t have too much going on this week, so we didn’t have many opportunities to spread the sickness to others. However, it prevented us from going to see Kaylin’s family to do our Christmas celebration, so it’ll likely be postponed for a couple more weeks.

In other news, Joe is going to be discussing a job opportunity as a technology trainer for companies around the USA, which would be a huge answer to prayer because

  1. It would be part-time, which will allow us to continue pursuing the growth of this blog
  2. It pays quite well despite the relatively few days worked, so we should be provided for, even if the blog doesn’t take off
  3. It gets Joe back into the world of web development and technology that he loves

Thank you to everyone who has prayed for our family. We’re extremely grateful, especially because we don’t really know the majority of you, yet you have still given your time to serve us through prayer. If you can, continue to pray that God will come through and provide everything we need. And definitely leave a comment letting us know you prayed for us; it’s greatly encouraging and it allows us to pray for you as well (feel free to leave prayer requests!). Now let’s get on with this week’s memory verse.

Scripture Memory Song

And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good. And there was evening and there was morning, the sixth day.
Genesis 1:31 (ESV)

Devotional

I wish I was Adam or Eve so I could have seen the splendor of the original creation before sin and the flood decimated it. It says here in Genesis 1:31 that God looked over his creation and it was “very good”, as opposed to the plain old “good” that it had been after the previous 5 days, and greatly opposed to the tainted world we see today.

Despite the fact that we live in a world marred by sin, though, we should be eternally grateful that we have something that Adam and Eve didn’t live to see: God’s Son, Jesus, sacrificing himself to give us hope and salvation! They received the promise of this savior in Genesis 3:15, but we have witnessed it through God’s Word! The world around us may not be very good, but we have a very good eternal future to look forward to!
