Missing the Mark – Romans 3:23 Scripture Memory Song

We don’t just miss the bulls-eye, we fall far short of even hitting the target.

If you’re new here, each week we all learn about and memorize a Bible verse together. We’ve put the verse(s) into song to help you learn the verse and recall it during your day. If you’d like to see the archives of all the verses we’ve done so far, you can find our posts here and a list of all the YouTube videos here. We’ll also be giving a family update on what has happened in the past week.

Family Update

We’re still recovering from sicknesses this week. Homeschooling has been going well. All of the boys are asking almost every day if we can do their homeschool. G is doing very well, reading his chapters to me with almost no help. K is loving learning sight words, and I’m amazed at what he already seems to know! Z is having fun watching videos about the alphabet letters. And our little E has exploded in how much he’s walking! It used to be just a few steps and then he was done, but now he’s walking across rooms without help! Crazy how much they’re all growing!

The job Joe was looking into is put on hold until he can get some experience in public speaking at some conferences and teaching multi-day courses. So finding some that he could speak at will be something he’s going to look into. In the mean time, we got another small job from one of Joe’s sisters – we’re going to taxi our nieces to school and home again. They just moved out of district, and because of circumstances, don’t want to transfer the girls to a different school at this time. Also, if anyone is looking for a part-time Virtual Assistant, Joe would love to connect with you.

Scripture Memory Song

for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
Romans 3:23 (ESV)

Devotional

For all have sinned…

Not just some, meaning the people we see doing things we can’t understand and know is a sin, but meaning everyone has sinned, including myself, and the people who seem all put together.

All have sinned and have fallen short of the glory of God.

Everyone has missed the mark of God’s glory in our actions. That’s kinda what sin means: missed the mark.

If the aim is to live for God’s glory, I know that I’ve fallen short way too many times to count. I struggle every day with an attitude that falls short of glorifying him in my heart and home.

What hope do we sinners have? Let’s read a little further past this week’s memory verse to find out:

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.
Romans 3:23-24 (ESV)

We have hope in Jesus Christ, who has redeemed us with his blood, through whom our debt is paid by grace as a gift! Totally free! We can do nothing to earn it.

How I rejoice in the gift he’s given me! Our hope is in him. <3
