Our way is not God’s way; it is sin. But there is hope for us.
If you’re new here, each week we all learn about and memorize a Bible verse together. We’ve put the verse(s) into song to help you learn the verse and recall it during your day. If you’d like to see the archives of all the verses we’ve done so far, you can find our posts here and a list of all the YouTube videos here. We’ll also be giving a family update on what has happened in the past week.
Family Update
This week has felt pretty normal. We weren’t majorly sick, and were starting to do our normal weekly activities again. Yesterday sickness seems to have crept back into our home, as 2 of our kiddos threw up. We’ll see.
I almost forgot to have G do his required school work this week. He’s been having such a good time doing his work from All In One Homeschool that I didn’t remember about the other things til the end of the week! Glad I remembered.
We went to our nephews birthday party. Our oldest nephew A, turned seven this past week, and our youngest nephew E, turns three at the end of this week! It’s crazy how time is going by.
Scripture Memory Song
All we like sheep have gone astray;
we have turned—every one—to his own way;
and the Lord has laid on him
the iniquity of us all.
Isaiah 53:6 (ESV)
Devotional
I think this verse in Isaiah 53 does a good job of summarizing the chapter for us: Because we have strayed from God, sinning by doing things our own way instead of his way, God has done the only thing that could redeem the relationship with us forever: he put all our sins and iniquities on Jesus on the cross.
It shows the mercy and grace God has shown to us as well! We’ve all strayed from him, doing our own thing, going our own way. That sin deserves punishment. But the Lord chose to put that punishment on Jesus Christ instead of us. He took our sins to himself and took the punishment that goes with them, and when we believe in him, he gives us his perfect righteousness in return! what a beautiful display of grace and mercy towards us.
