Trump is President. Now What?

Trump has been elected our next president of the United States. Many are rejoicing, many are fearful, and many don’t know what to expect. What we do know is that God is sovereign and he allowed Trump to win for a reason. We may not know fully what that is, but we don’t need to worry. Our eyes should be fixed on Christ, not Trump.

In all of the mixed feelings of him being our next president-elect, what should we as Christians do?

  1. Pray for him. Pray that he would be surrounded by people of character, people who can influence him in a God-glorifying way. Pray that God would use him for his purposes. Pray that he would have wisdom.
  2. Seek peace in our country. There are going to be a lot of high emotions surrounding this election result. As much as it is up to you, seek to be a peacemaker. Don’t use words to stir up conflict, but instead give soft answers, or none at all, to try to keep conflict from occurring.
  3. Live for the glory of God. As always, we should not let outside forces stop us from living godly lives. Show God’s love to the world with everything you do, and provide a light in the darkness around us.
  4. Trust God. Trust that God will use Trump’s presidency for our good. That he would use this to stir up Christians to live righteously, lovingly, in a country that is more opposed to these ideals. That even though we may not agree with things Trump has said or done, this presidency is part of God’s plan to bring his purpose on earth to completion.

Let’s not worry about things that are out of our control, but instead trust the one who has control of all things.
