How Can I Be Saved? – Acts 16:31 Scripture Memory Song

It really is simple, but it’s not always easy.

If you’re new here, each week we all learn about and memorize a Bible verse together. We’ve put the verse(s) into song to help you learn the verse and recall it during your day. If you’d like to see the archives of all the verses we’ve done so far, you can find our posts here and a list of all the YouTube videos here. On to this week’s verse!

And they said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.”
Acts 16:31 (ESV)

Devotional

Just believe in Jesus! That’s it! Well, we’re not talking about simply having head-knowledge of and believing that Jesus existed and died to forgive your sins. We’re talking about faith, which I’ve gone over in the past.

One of the key words in this passage is “Lord”, though it is largely skipped over. It’s like believing in the king who rules over us: it’s not just believing in his existence, it’s also acknowledging who he is, which includes submitting yourself to his authority because of that knowledge. If/when that king commands you to do something, there is no choice: you must obey or suffer the consequences, and this applies whether you recognize his authority (believe in him) or not.
