We suck at loving God, but he’s amazing at loving us.
If you’re new here, each week we all learn about and memorize a Bible verse together. We’ve put the verse(s) into song to help you learn the verse and recall it during your day. If you’d like to see the archives of all the verses we’ve done so far, you can find our posts here and a list of all the YouTube videos here. On to this week’s verse!
In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
1 John 4:10 (ESV)
Devotional
God loved us and sacrificed so much for us, even when we despised him. This is amazing. You may want a definition of “propitiation”, though (and maybe another word):
Propitiate: to make favorably inclined; appease; conciliate
Conciliate: to overcome the distrust or hostility of; placate; win over.
to win or gain (goodwill, regard, or favor).
to make compatible; reconcile.
Other than that tiny explanation, I really don’t think I need to write much more on this verse because I think a couple of posts that we’ve put up over the last couple weeks really say it all:
Our God really is an awesome God. Be blessed by this verse this week!
