What would you like others to do to you?
If you’re new here, each week we all learn about and memorize a Bible verse together. We’ve put the verse(s) into song to help you learn the verse and recall it during your day. If you’d like to see the archives of all the verses we’ve done so far, you can find our posts here and a list of all the YouTube videos here. We’ll also be giving a family update on what has happened in the past week.
Family Update
We’ve been wanting to make this blog a little more personal, but we’re never sure how to fit them into the schedule, so we’ve decided to just add an update into these Scripture Memory Song posts to fill in how our last week has gone. So let’s get started!
This past week has been pretty hectic for us. We had Christmas on Sunday, obviously, but we also wound up visiting family members nearly every other day throughout the week. Our entire family was dealing with sickness throughout December and we finally got healthy just in time for Christmas… but now we’re getting sick again. Hopefully this bout passes quickly and we can have a good stretch of health ahead of us.
You may notice that the scripture song is an older one. It’s not one we’ve featured on the site, but we have memorized it already. This is largely due to the hectic week. We haven’t fully gotten our boys to memorize last week’s verse and we also haven’t gotten a chance to get a new video made, so enjoy this “golden oldie”. 🙂
Scripture Memory Song
And as you wish that others would do to you, do so to them.
Luke 6:31 (ESV)
Devotional
The golden rule. Everyone’s heard it, but I don’t think we’ve taken it as seriously as we should. Think about it: what would your perfect day look like? I doubt it would involve fairness. Rather it’d probably be a day where you receive some preferential treatment, like a spa day or hours in front of whatever entertainment device you love best and of course there’d be some good food. The point is that you want to be treated very well. So, how should you treat others, now that you really know how you want to be treated?
And don’t forget one very important thing: Jesus gave you preferential treatment. He also treated you with love despite the fact that you didn’t deserve it in the least. You actually deserved the very opposite. Once again, knowing this, how do you think Jesus wants you to treat others?
