You’ve got to love the short verses. 🙂 So much easier to memorize. Once again, though, it’s short but sweet.
God loved us first. He loved us before we were born, conceived, or even created! Not only that, we decided we didn’t want him in our lives, but he still loved us! So much that he humbled himself as a human being, bringing himself down to our level, then gave up his life in a terribly gruesome way just to try to win us back. Would you do something like that for someone who decided they didn’t want anything to do with you?
Well, now, through his sacrifice and perfect example, we finally understand what love truly is and have the capability to love unconditionally. And we also have a reason to love: to pay Christ’s love forward and to bring others to God.
